Our Story

Supplying Bhutan's tailors and stitching for our community since 1998.

Since 1998

From a Fabric Counter to a Full Supply House

Universal Trading began in 1998 as a small counter selling fabric and thread to local tailors near Norzin Lam. As Thimphu's garment trade grew, so did we — adding industrial sewing machines, tailoring notions, and equipment sourced from trusted manufacturers.

Today we supply individual tailors, garment workshops, and institutions across Bhutan, while our own stitching counter continues to dress customers for weddings, offices, and everyday wear.

How we work

Trusted by Bhutan's Tailors

Every machine we sell is checked and demonstrated before it leaves the shop. Every fabric roll is inspected for quality before it reaches the shelf.

And when a customer needs something we don't have in stock, we source it — because a tailor who can't get supplies can't finish a garment on time.

Our approach

How We Do Business

Reliable Supply

Tailors run on deadlines. We keep the fabrics, threads, and machine parts they depend on in stock, restocked regularly from trusted manufacturers.

Honest Advice

Whether you're buying your first industrial machine or your hundredth metre of lining, we tell you what actually suits the job — not just what's in stock.

Skilled Stitching

Our own tailoring counter is held to the same standard we expect from the equipment we sell: measured carefully, and finished by hand.
